MP Materials IPO

MP Materials operates the Mountain Pass rare earth mine in California, the only scaled rare earth mining and processing site in North America. The company extracts and processes rare earth elements critical for manufacturing permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, defense systems, and consumer electronics. MP Materials controls the entire supply chain from mining through magnet manufacturing, positioning itself as a domestic alternative to Chinese rare earth suppliers.

The company went public in 2020 and has since invested heavily in expanding its processing capabilities and developing a fully integrated rare earth supply chain in the United States. MP Materials' Mountain Pass facility produces rare earth concentrate that is currently shipped to China for further processing, but the company is building domestic processing capabilities to reduce dependence on Chinese supply chains. This vertical integration strategy addresses critical national security concerns and supports the growing demand for rare earth materials in clean energy applications.
